A19 CONSULTING ENGINEERS WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1998.
Over the last 22 years we have grown into a well developed Consulting Structural, Civil and Timber Engineering Firm that offers our clients a complete packaged service. Currently we have two offices, one in Rosenpark Bellville and the other in Somerset West with a national client base extending into Southern African countries.
While the organisation has steadily expanded, great care has been taken to ensure that this growth is never at the expense of our strongly values-driven approach that places the needs and wellbeing of our clients, employees, and the environment at the centre of everything we do.

OUR CONSULTING SERVICES
We offer a variety of services to all of our clients, customized to fit their specific needs. Our goal is to offer the most economical, practical, innovative and modern design solution. We are involved in many residential and commercial projects. In the initial stages of the projects we provide all documentation necessary for council submissions as well as NHBRC enrollments.
CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISION
A DETAILED APPROACH.
Our clients are our number one priority, and we’ll go the extra mile to make sure they’re completely satisfied with our work. We have a detailed approach when it comes to site supervision and we only sign off on a structure when we are completely satisfied with the work done on site. All site inspections are done prior to the pouring of concrete and to the installation of cladding for timber -and steel structures.
CIVIL ENGINEERING
EXCEEDING YOUR EXPECTATIONS.
Our Civil Engineering services include the provision of bulk services and bulk earthworks in preparation of building projects, as well as the provision of roads and infrastructure services surrounding buildings or for new residential townships. This includes stormwater management systems, foul sewer networks and potable water reticulation network services over the full life cycle of any project. From Concept and Viability Planning to Feasibility Studies, Master Planning and Development Frameworks, Detail Designs, Contract Administration and Construction Monitoring, we are involved in every aspect of the Civil works needed, providing cost-effective, timely solutions in line with the client’s needs
MASONRY
EXPERT GUIDANCE.
Masonry construction is an economical solution for most residential structures. We design numerous load bearing masonry structures, from internal and external walls to columns and retaining walls.
Masonry also forms an integral part of commercial concrete frame structures as non-load bearing infill panels.
REINFORCED CONCRETE
COMPREHENSIVE APPROACH.
We have an expert reinforced concrete design team that can solve any design challenge. They have an in-depth understanding of all relevant SANS design codes and their applications.
Our team can, with confidence, take on any concrete structure. They have been part of many projects where they design individual and combined elements. For example: strip foundations, columns and column bases, raft foundations, piles and pile caps, suspended slabs and beams, lift shafts, shear walls, walls, bridges and water retaining structures.
STRUCTURAL STEEL
MOST ECONOMIC DESIGN
We provide customized and economic design solutions to all our clients. Our structural design team combines their experience, expertise and resources - therefore they are prepared to take on any challenge, from portal frames to large warehouses, mezzanine floors, roof structures, towers, bridges, and more.
STRUCTURAL TIMBER
EXPERIENCE IS OUR FOUNDATION
At A19 we have designed and inspected timber structures for more than 20 years. Our talented timber design team, under the leadership of Calvin Pagel, likes to take on any challenge that comes their way.
They design nail plated SA Pine roof structures, exposed roof structures in SA Pine and exotic timbers, mezzanine floors, timber framed houses, carports, retaining walls, staircases, bridges and more.
STRUCTURAL REPORTS
ULTIMATE CLIENT SUPPORT
If you have any concerns regarding the structural integrity of a structure we are able to assist in several ways. We report in writing after a thorough visual site inspection. If necessary tests or a structural analysis can be done to support our findings and conclusions.
Our reports can include a recommended remedial solution and designs if required.
SOIL
GETTING OUR HANDS DIRTY.
We offer Geotechnical Surveys and reports for residential and smaller commercial projects. The reports include: site geology, soil profiles, ground water conditions, excavation conditions, foundation conditions & solutions, estimated safe bearing capacity, predicted settlement as well as potential material utilization. We include the soil classification for NHBRC enrollments.
